Idris Elba

 Idrissa Akuna ELBA OBE (/IdrIs/; 6 September 1972) is an English actor from England. He is a graduate of the National Youth Theatre in London, he is known for his roles in the series The Wire, which include Stringer Bell in The Wire, an HBO series The Wire (2002-2004), DCI John Luther in the BBC One series Luther (2010-2019) as well as Nelson Mandela in the biographical film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom (2013). He was nominated for four Golden Globe Awards for Best Actor and a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor for Luther. The latter took home one. Elba also appeared in Ridley Scott’s American Gangster (2007) and Obsessed (2008). He portrayed Heimdall in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which began with Thor (2011) as well as Bloodsport in The Suicide Squad (2021), set within the DC Extended Universe. He was also in Pacific Rim (2013) and Beasts of No Nation (2015). In these films, he was nominated for Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations in addition to Molly's Game (2017). Elba has also voiced characters in Zootopia, The Jungle Book, Finding Dory (all 2016) as well as Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022). He made his directorial debut in the year 2018 by adapting the novel from 1992 Yardie by Victor Headley
