Lewis Hamilton

Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonFREng (born 7 January, 1985) is a British racing driver currently competing in Formula One for Mercedes. In Formula One, Hamilton has won a joint-record seven World Drivers' Championships (tied with Michael Schumacher), and holds the record for highest number of wins (103), pole positions (103) and podium places (191) among other things. born and raised in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, Hamilton was accepted into the McLaren young driver program in 1998. Hamilton was the first and only black driver to race in Formula One from 2007 to 2012. In his first season, Hamilton set numerous records when he was runner-up to Kimi Raikkonen by one point. The following season Hamilton won his first title in a dramatic manner, making an important overtake on the final lap of the final race of the season to become the youngest Formula One World Champion in history. Hamilton quit McLaren after six years, and joined Mercedes in 2013. Hamilton was asked to adopt a turbo-hybrid motor for the 2014 regulations. It was the beginning of a period of success for Hamilton. He has since been awarded six more driver's titles. In 2014, he won consecutive titles and 2015 amid a fierce rivalry with teammate Nico Rosberg. After Rosberg's retirement, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel became Hamilton's closest rival in two championship battles during which Hamilton twice overturned mid-season point deficits to win consecutive championships again in 2017 and 2018. In order to match Schumacher's record of seven drivers Hamilton's fourth and third consecutive championships were won in 2019 and 2020.
