Chris Pérez

 Christopher Gilbert Perez, born on August 14, 1969, is an American guitarist. He is most well-known for his work as the lead guitarist in the Tejano group Selena y Los Dinos. On April 2nd 1992, he got married to Selena Perez, who was the leader of the group. Perez was one of two children of Gilbert Perez, Carmen Medina and was raised in San Antonio. Perez was a member of Shelly Lares' group in 1986, and began his tenure. Perez's guitar skills were well-known to Tejano musicians in the early 1980s. A.B. was intrigued by this. Quintanilla interested in Quintanilla's tale. Quintanilla was seeking an artist to join the group he'd produced, Selena y Los Dinos. Between one and two years after Perez joined the band, he and Selena began a personal relationship.Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, forced them to end their relationship because he felt Perez's image might damage Selena's career. They remained friends despite his threats to disband the group. Abraham dismissed Perez and prohibited Selena from pursuing a relationship with Abraham. Perez wed Selena in 1992. Selena was her former friend and former director of the boutiques she owned, was shot dead and killed on March 31, 1995. Perez was deeply grieved by the death of Selena and began to abuse alcohol and drugs. Perez also formed the Chris Perez Band, and began creating songs for their debut album. The first album, Resurrection was released by Hollywood Records. It won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Rock or Alternative Record. Following the release of their second album Una Noche Mas (2002) The band split apart. Perez continued to work in the industry of music and performed frequently with A.B. Perez was a part of the Kumbia Kings, and Kumbia All Starz. In the year 2010, he founded the Chris Perez Project with Angel Ferrer who is who is an American singer. In 2001, he formed the Chris Perez Project.
