LaMelo Ball

LaMelo LaFrance (born August 22, 2001) is an American professional basketball player for the Charlotte Hornets (NBA). The Hornets picked him as the third overall selection in the 2020 NBA draft. Ball was voted the NBA Rookie of the Year in 2021 and named an NBA All-Star the following season in 2022.Ball began his high school career at Chino Hills High School in Chino Hills, California, where he won a state championship and achieved national recognition as a freshman with his older brothers Lonzo and LiAngelo. Before his junior season the dispute with the coach led him to quit Chino Hills and sign with Lithuanian professional team Prienai. He participated in the Junior Basketball Association in 2018 and was established by his father. Following that the team was formed, he reenrolled in high school and was a senior at SPIRE Academy in Geneva. Ball was a five-star recruit who committed to UCLA. However his eligibility issues led him to play for the Illawarra Hawks in the National Basketball League (NBL). He enjoyed a meteoric climb there. Ball was mocked by scouts prior to his rise they believed that he would get a second round pick and not make it to the NBA. But his performance has led to him being selected as the third pick by the Charlotte Hornets in the 2020 NBA draft. Following the 2020-21 NBA season, Ball was named the NBA Rookie-of-the Year. His brothers and he have become a household name from the moment they began playing together in highschool. In 2017, his father LaVar became a media star. Ball is a brand-new shoe from his father's business, Big Baller Brand, and also a spot in the family's Facebook Watch reality show Ball in the Family. The older brother of his is a Chicago Bulls guard.
