Jeremy Lin

Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988) is a Taiwanese-American[1][2] professional basketball player who last played for the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Unexpectedly, he led an improvement in the performance of the New York Knicks (NBA) in the 2011-12 season. This led to a cultural phenomenon known as "Linsanity". Lin was the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to play in the NBA and is among the very few Asian Americans to have played in the league. He is the first Asian American to win an NBA championship, having done it in the Toronto Raptors in 2019.Lin grew as a child in the San Francisco Bay Area and was awarded Northern California Basketball Player of the Year awards as a senior in high school. After not receiving any sports scholarship, he attended Harvard University, where he was an all-conference three times in the Ivy League. Lin joined the Golden State Warriors, his hometown team in 2010, when he wasn't recruited from college. Lin was not a part of his rookie season, and was assigned to the NBA Development League. In the year 2011, Lin was waived by both the Warriors as well as the Houston Rockets before joining the New York Knicks early in 2011-12.At beginning, Lin played sparingly for the Knicks and spent time in the D-League. Lin was promoted to the starting line-up in February 2012, and he was instrumental in the team's seven-game winning streak. Lin's stellar play during the season helped the Knicks get into the playoffs for 2012 and also helped propel him to international fame. Lin was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated and Time and was included on the Time 100 as one of the most influential individuals around the globe. In the month of July, Lin won the ESPY Award for Breakthrough Athlete of the Year.
