Hempel Group

 Hempel was established by Jorgen Christian Hempel (1894 until 30 January, 1986) in July 1915, when he established Hempel's Marine Paints Ltd. (J.C. Hempel's Skibsfarve-Fabrik A/S) which was an importer of marine paints. At just twenty one years of old, he was Denmark's youngest licensed wholesaler at the time. Hempel opened his first paint mixing facility in 1917. In 1951, Hempel established the first American-based factory and in 1963 , he opened an office in Hong Kong. Hong Kong office. In the mid-1960s, the company began producing decorative coatings specifically for the Middle East, and it opened its first factory in the region, in Kuwait in 1966.In the 1970s, Hempel established a Protective coatings division to create and manufacture coatings for industrial markets, which includes power generation and infrastructure. Hempel was the first business to focus on renewable energy and supplied coatings to the first commercially-operated wind farm in 1980.J.C. Hempel who was the head of the company for seventy-one of those years passed away in 1986 at the age of 91. By 2000, Hempel had become a global company with local management in thirty eight countries. Hempel consolidated its operations after buying out its partners from China, Morocco, and the Middle East over the next ten years.
