Catherine Bell (actress)

Bell was one of the main actors in Men of War, a 1994 Dolph Lundgren film. In the course of filming the movie in Thailand, Bell and her co-star Trevor Goddard bonded over contracting amoebic dysentery. Goddard would portray Bell's intermittent love interest Mic Brumby on JAG in the years following. They remained friends until Goddard's passing of a fatal drug overdose in June 2003, an event which the grieving Bell described as "horrible". In 1995, she was offered the role of a trio in an episode of the NBC TV show JAG, which centers on the activities of the US Department of the Navy's Judge Advocate General office. NBC canceled the show after which it was picked up by CBS, which restructured the series, incorporating the female Marine Corps lawyer character, Sarah MacKenzie. Bell was a candidate for the role and was selected. The pilot episode included Bell talking Persian. Bell continued to play the character until the series ended in 2005. Bell began her career in the Lifetime's ensemble drama series Army Wives in 2007. Bell played Denise Sherwood (the wife of an U.S. Army lieutenant colonel) who is subject to domestic violence from her her teenage son, during the first season. Bell played the role of Cassandra "Cassie" Nightingale, the protagonist of the Hallmark Channel's The Good Witch (2008) as well as the sequels The Good Witch's Garden (2009), The Good Witch's Gift (2010), The Good Witch's Family (2011), The Good Witch's Charm (2012), The Good Witch's Destiny (2013), and The Good Witch's Wonder (2014). Bell was also the co-executive producer for all the movies. She also starred in the Lifetime movie Last Man Standing (2011).
