Freeman has appeared in numerous short films, feature films and television series. She played the lead in the suspense film YellowBrickRoad which was written by and directed by Andy Mitton and Jesse Holland. [55 Freeman was also the character Veronica Sharpe in the award-winning short film Razor Sharp. At the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival 2007, the film was awarded "Best Action Film". She was cast as the lead in the CW's Superman-inspired show Smallville in September of 2008. This was after Michael Rosenbaum's resignation. Freeman continued in this role until May 2011. Freeman has also appeared in three episodes of CBS the crime drama CSI. In October 2009, she starred in CSI: Crime Scene Investigation season 10, episode four, called "Coup de Grace". In September of 2011, she was featured in CSI: NY season 8 episode one, titled "Indelible". In March 2012, she was featured in CSI: Miami season 10 episode 15, titled "No Good Deed". Freeman was confirmed by The CW to appear as Sage in The Vampire Diaries' third season on January 13th, 2012. Between 2012 and the year 2017, Freeman was a regular on the show as Cady Longmire in the A&E and (later) Netflix crime drama Longmire.Between 2016 and 2017, she was the Russian spy Eva Azarova in NCIS: New Orleans. She also appeared in a cross-over episode of NCIS: New Orleans. Will Patton starred with her in The Purge 5 movie The Forever Purge. The film came out in 2021.
