Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan; born Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24 1941) was an American singer-songwriter from the United States. He is often referred to as one of the most influential music writers of all time, Dylan has been a prominent figure in pop music for over 60 years. The most well-known work of his goes back to the 1960s , when songs such as "Blowin' In the Wind" (1963), and "The Times they Are a-Changin' (1964) were considered to be the most popular songs of the civil rights movement and antiwar movements. Dylan's lyrics in this period included a variety of political, social, literary, and philosophical influences, challenging pop music rules and appealing to the growing counterculture. Dylan's self-titled debut album from 1962 that featured mostly traditional folk songs, was later followed by the album The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan which was his debut album as the songwriter. The album features "Blowinin the Wind" and the intricate and rich thematic "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Come Fall". A lot of his compositions were inspired by old folk songs. In 1964 Dylan released his politically controversial The Times They are a-Changin' and the more introspective and lyrically abstract Another Side of Bob Dylan. Dylan's use of amplified electrically rock instruments in 1965 and 1966 provoked controversy among folk fans who were adamant about keeping it simple. Dylan released three of the most influential and significant rock albums from the 1960s, Bringing It All Home, Highway 61 Revisited (both 1965), and Blonde on Blonde (1966). His six-minute song "Like A Rolling Stone" was released in the year 1965, broadened the commercial and creative boundaries of pop music.
