Tana Mongeau

 Mongeau announced that she will organize her own convention, TanaCon, in the same location and date in the same time frame as VidCon 2018. The event will run between June 22 and 23. Following VidCon 2017's organizers didn't give Mongeau rights to the event as an "featured creator", Mongeau planned TanaCon to take over VidCon. TanaCon was held in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Marriott Suites on June 22nd, 2018. The event was cancelled the next day. More than 80 panelists were who attended the event, which included Bella Thorne and Shane Dawson, Casey Neistat and Miranda Sings. Mongeau said that the event was attended by 20,000, however just 4,000-5,000 people attended. The Marriott was unable to hold just half of that number. A lot of people who attended complained of a lack of water, food and exposure to the sun for extended durations. A lot of people complained of sunburn and some were even shivering due to the heat. The event received a lot of critique and interest. According to the Verge the crowd was comparing the festival with Fyre Festival and people shouted "refund" following the event. Dawson said that TanaCon was the worst choice he made. Mongeau apologized later and said that he made the most regrettable choice in his entire life. Dawson later created a trilogy consisting of three YouTube videos in documentary format , which featured Mongeau and others who attended the event. TanaCon was developed by Michael Weis in collaboration with who is an actor and producer.
