 Minions, a 2015 American computer-animated comedy film made by Illumination Entertainment and distributed worldwide by Universal Pictures, is called "Minions". Minions is the Despicable Me spin-off/prequel [a] and the third overall installment in the Despicable Me series. Produced by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda (in Balda's directorial debut), produced by Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy and written by Brian Lynch, it stars the voice actors of Coffin as Minions (including Kevin, Stuart, and Bob), Sandra Bullock, Jon Hamm, Michael Keaton, Allison Janney, Steve Coogan, Jennifer Saunders and is read by Geoffrey Rush. In the film, the Minions seek to find their evil master after accidentally killing the entire cast of characters that have died in history.Minions debuted in London on the 11th of June 2015, and was released in the United States on July 10. The film received mixed review from critics. They were awed by the voice acting, animation, and score. However they were critical of the character's development, humor, and comedy. It was a financial success at the box office, earning $1.159 billion worldwide, and became the fifth-highest-grossing film of 2015, the 10th-highest-grossing film of all time, the second-highest-grossing animated film of all time during its theatrical run, and is to date the highest-grossing animated film not released by Walt Disney Pictures. A sequel, Minions: The Rise of Gru was released in 2022.
