Meyer was born Pauline Joyce Hutchison, south St. Louis, in 1943. Shortly after her birth, her father joined in the military to fight in World War II. In her interviews, she said that her father started sexually assaulting them once his return. She also discussed the subject in her discussions. She continues to speak with the O'Fallon Technical High School's working class St. Louis accent grad. She got married to an auto salesman who was part-time just after she finished her final year of high school. The marriage lasted five years. She says that her husband was cheating on her numerous times and that she convinced her husband to take her employer's pay checks. The funds were used to pay for an excursion to California. Meyer claims she returned the money a few years after. Meyer was in bars following her divorce and also met Dave Meyer, an engineer draftsman. They got married on January 7th, 1967.
