John Christopher Depp II, born on June 9, 1963 is an American actor. Numerous awards have been presented to Depp such as the Screen Actors Guild Award and the Golden Globe Award. He was also nominated for three Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards and Platoon (1986). Depp became famous for his role as an 21 Jump Street teen idol (1987-1990). Depp was a principal actor in independent films, frequently with eccentric directors in the 1990s. Cry-Baby (1990), Cry-Baby? (1993), Benny and Joon (93), Dead Man (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas (1998). Depp started a long-term partnership with Tim Burton. He played the leading characters in the film Edward Scissorhands (1990), Ed Wood (94), as well as Sleepy Hollow (99).
