Jeremy Lin

 Jeremy Shu-How Lin (born August 23, 1988) is a professional Taiwanese-American basketball player who played with the Guangzhou Loong Lions of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA). Lin unexpectedly led a successful turnaround with the New York Knicks of the National Basketball Association (NBA) in the 2011-12 season, generating a cultural phenomenon called "Linsanity". Lin was the first American of Chinese or Taiwanese descent to compete in the NBA, and is one of the very few Asian Americans to have played in the league. Lin is the first Asian American to win a NBA championship. Lin won the title in 2019 while playing for the Toronto Raptors. Lin was born in the San Francisco Bay Area, and was named Northern California Basketball Player Of the Year when he was a high school senior. After receiving no athletic scholarships He enrolled in Harvard University, where he was an all-conference three times within the Ivy League. Lin joined the Golden State Warriors, his hometown team , in 2010 when he wasn't recruited from college. Lin did not play during his rookie season, but was given assignments to the NBA Development League (D-League). Lin was let go from the Warriors in 2011 and the Houston Rockets in 2012. Then, he joined the New York Knicks in early 2011-12. Lin initially played sparingly with the Knicks before he was able to spend some time in the D-League. In February 2012, however Lin was elevated to the starting line-up and led the team on a seven-game winning streak. Lin's impressive play helped the Knicks get to the 2012 playoffs. He also earned him international recognition. Lin was included on the covers of Sports Illustrated, Time, and was included on the Time 100 list of the top 100 people worldwide. Lin was awarded the ESPY Award as Breakthrough Athlete Of The Year in July 2012.
