Ood Wars : Shokugeki no Soma (Japanese: Shi Ji nosoma, Hepburn: Shokugeki no Soma, lit. "Soma of the Shokugeki" is an Japanese manga series written by Yuto Tsukuda penned as well as Shun Saeki illustrated. It was published in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump between November 2012 to June 2019. Shueisha released 36 volumes of tankobon which included the chapters. The series follows a chef who is enrolled in an elite culinary school which offers cooking competitions. Yuki Morisaki also is an author of the series, composing the recipes. Viz Media North America has licensed the manga. They began publishing the manga digitally since March 2014, and published the first volume in August 2014. Between April and September of 2015, the manga was purchased over 20 million times. J.C.Staff produced an anime adaptation. The season 2 was called Food Wars! Between July and September of 2016 the show The Second Plate aired. The first episode of the third season, Food Wars! The Third Plate aired from October 2017 until December 2017. The second portion aired from April through June 2018. The fourth season was called Food Wars! Between October and December of 2019 The Fourth Plate aired. Food Wars! is the fifth and final season. Between April to September 2020, the show The Fifth Plate aired. Two videogames were released for the show in 2015. There have been mixed reviews by fans of the show, with some applauding the authenticity of the recipes and story and others expressing displeasure at the overuse of fan-based service.
