Alex Trebek

 Trebek was born on July 22, 1940, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, the son of George Edward Trebek (born Terebeychuk), a chef who had emigrated from Ukraine as a child, and Lucille Marie Lagace (April 14, 1921 - 2016), a Franco-Ontarian.Trebek had roots in Renfrew County, Ontario, where his maternal grandmother was born in Mount St. Patrick near Renfrew. Trebek grew up in a bilingual household of English and French. Trebek was almost exiled from the boarding school he was given by his parents. He enrolled in a military school shortly after but dropped out after being asked to wash his hair. Trebek was just 13 years old when he got his first job as a bellhop in the restaurant where his father worked as chef. Trebek was 13 years old when he began working as a bellhop at the hotel in which his father worked as chef. At the time, he was interested in the field of broadcast journalism.
