50 Cent

Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975) is an American actor and rapper. Jackson was born in South Jamaica, Queens. His musical career began when he recorded Power of the Dollar, Columbia Records' 2000 release. However, Jackson was shot days prior to the release date and the album never came out. Following 50 Cent's mixtape Guess who's back came out in 2002, Eminem was able to find the artist and signed the rapper to Shady Records. His first major label album, Get Rich or Die Trying (2003) was a commercial success. The Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles "In da Club", "21 Questions" and "In da Club" were the result of the album. It was also certified platinum 9x by the Recording Industry Association of America. He also established G-Unit Records in the same year and signed his G-Unit groupmates Lloyd Banks, Young Buck, as well as Tony Yayo. This was before he was named the leader of the East Coast hip-hop group G-Unit. 50 Cent's sophomore album, The Massacre (2006) was a commercial hit. It featured the hit single "Candy Shop". Following his fifth album, Animal Ambition (2014) he went through major changes in his music and is currently making his sixth studio album. He was the director and executive producer of Power (2014-2020) and will produce its spin-offs.
