Clifford Smith Jr.[1Clifford Smith Jr. (born March 2, 1971),[2] better known by his stage name Method Man, is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and actor. He is known as an active part of the East Coast hip hop collective Wu-Tang Clan. He is also a part of the hip hop duo Method Man & Redman. The stage name he chose came from the film Method Man. [3Smith Smith received a Grammy Award in 1996 for Best Rap Performance by a group for "I'll be there for you/You're all I need to get By". The song featured American R&B singer Mary J. Blige. Smith is currently a part of Power Book II Ghost. Power Book II: Ghost is a spin-off of the original show Power Smith. He has been in films such as 187 (1997) and Belly (1998). On television, he and frequent collaborator, Redman, a fellow East Coast rapper Redman, played in the animated Fox sitcom Method & Red.
