Kate Winslet

 Kate Elizabeth Winslet CBE (/'wInzl@t/;[2 born on 5 October 1975) is an English actress. She is most well-known for her independent films, especially period dramas as well in her portrayals of headstrong and complex women. She has been awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award and a Grammy Award. Time magazine named Winslet one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2009 and 2021. In 2012, she was named Commander of the Order of the British Empire. Her first appearance on screen, at age 15, was on the British television show Dark Season (1991). Her film debut was as a teenager murderess in Heavenly Creatures (1994). She later won an BAFTA Award playing Marianne Dashwood, in Sense and Sensibility (1995). The lead role she played character in Titanic (1997), an epic romantic comedy which was the top-grossing film at that time, helped her achieve global stardom. Winslet was then reluctant to appear in blockbusters, opting instead for critically acclaimed period pieces, including Quills (2000) as well as Iris (2001).The science fiction romance Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004), where Winslet was cast as a character in a modern setting was a pivotal point in her career, and she gained further recognition for her roles in Finding Neverland (2004), Little Children (2006), Revolutionary Road (2008), and The Reader (2008). Winslet was awarded the Academy Award for Best Actress and the BAFTA Award for her role as an ex- Nazi camp guard. The role of Winslet in the role of Joanna Hoffman in the biopic Steve Jobs (2015) earned her another BAFTA Award. She also received two Primetime Emmy Awards in recognition of her performance in the HBO mini-series Mildred Pierce (2011) and Mare at Easttown (2012).
