Janet Leigh

 Jeanette Helen Morrison, born July 6th, 1927. She and died on October 3, 2004 and was professionally referred to as Janet Leigh. She was an American actress. Her professional career spans over fifty years. Leigh was born in Stockton, California to working-class parents. At the age of 18, she was spotted by actress Norma Shearer who helped her get an agreement with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Prior to her acting debut, Leigh was a regular in radio. Her first film appearance was in The Romance of Rosy Ridge (1947). As a member of MGM, she appeared in many films which spanned many genres, which include the crime-drama Act of Violence (1948) as well as the action Little Women (1949), the comedy Angels in the Outfield (1951), the romance Scaramouche (1952) as well as the western-themed drama The Naked Spur (1953). In the 1950s, she played important roles in dramatic films such as Safari (1956), Orson Welles’s noir Touch of Evil (1958) and Scaramouche (1952). She co-starred alongside Robert Mitchum in Holiday Affair (1949) the romantic comedy. Her biggest success came in the role of Marion Crane, in Alfred Hitchcock's psychotic thriller Psycho (1960). Leigh was nominated to win the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance. She would occasionally be featured in films, such as Bye Bye Birdie (1963), Harper (1966), Night of the Lepus (1972), and Boardwalk (1979). Her Broadway debut in the year 1975 with a production of Murder Among Friends. Alongside her daughter Jamie Lee Curtis, she would appear in two horror films: The Fog (1980) and Halloween H20 twenty years after that (1998).
