Vanessa Williams

 Vanessa Lynn Williams (born on the 18th of March, 1963) is an American actress, singer and fashion designer. She became the first African-American woman to be awarded the Miss America title when she was crowned Miss America 1984. Following a controversy over naked photos of her published on Penthouse magazine, she was forced to resign her position. Three decades later, Williams was offered a apology to the public during the Miss America 2016 pageant for the events.Williams returned from the controversy with an impressive career as a musician and actress. In 1988 she released her debut album The Right Stuff, whose title track was a moderate hit as did "Dreamin'" which peaked at the top of the charts in the United States in 1989. With her third and fourth studio albums, The Comfort Zone (1991) and The Sweetest Days (1994) and The Sweetest Days (1994), she continued to enjoy commercial success and earned multiple Grammy Award nominations; this included her top-selling single and her signature track, "Save the Best for Last" and "Save the Best for Last," which was performed live during the 1993 Grammy Awards ceremonies. Williams was a successful actor on stage and screen when she released her studio album, Everlasting Love (2005). In 1994 she made her Broadway debut in the musical Kiss of the Spider Woman. In 2002, she was the lead in The Witch in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Into the Woods which earned her a Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical nomination. She was a part of Horton Foote's The Trip to Bountiful in 2013 and also in the ensemble farce, POTUS: Behind All the Great Dumbasse Are Seven Women Struggling to Keep Him Alive in 2022. Her most well-known role is Wilhelmina Slater (2006-2010), which earned her the Primetime Emmy Award three times for Outstanding Supporting Actress In the field of Comedy Series, and Renee Perry (2010-2012).
