Sophie Xeon, born 17 September 1986 and died 30 January 2021 was a Scottish music DJ, producer and songwriter. The band is known for its bold and innovative take on pop music, which helped to establish the hyperpop microgenre of the 2010s, Sophie[a] worked closely with musicians on the PC Music label, including A.G. Cook and GFOTY as well as produced for artists such as Charli XCX, Vince Staples, Kim Petras, Madonna, Let's Eat Grandma, and Namie Amuro.Sophie, who initially remained anonymous and later became transgender, came to prominence with the breakthrough singles "Bipp" (2013) and "Lemonade" (2014), which were collected in the compilation album Product (2015). Sophie's album, Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides debuted in the year 2018. It was an nomination for the Grammy Award as Best Dance/Electronic album. Sophie died on January 20, 2021, following a being thrown off a three-story Athens building. The Fader eulogized Sophie as a "pioneering Scottish artist whose vibrant electronic productions expanded modern pop music's scope,"while Pitchfork credited Sophie's influential work "mold[ing] electronic music into bracingly innovative avant-garde pop"
