Self-esteem refers to confidence in one's own worth or capabilities. Self-esteem refers to beliefs about oneself, such as "I have been loved", or "I'm worthy", as well as feelings of despair, joy, and pride. Smith and Mackie (2007) described it as "The self-concept" which is how we see ourselves. Self-esteem is a reflection of our self-esteem, or our feelings about ourselves. Self-esteem is a mental construct which predicts the outcome of certain events. It is used to predict academic success, happiness, [4] satisfaction with marriage and relationships as well as criminal behaviour. Self-esteem could be a specific or global. Psychologists typically view self-esteem as an enduring character trait (trait self-esteem) but temporary, normal variations (state self-esteem) are also present. Self-esteem is often referred to as a synonym or near-synonym include self-esteem, self-respect, selfworth, selfintegrity, and self-worth.
