Ryuuji Takasu is the main male protagonist of the show. He is a sixteen-year-old high school student in his second year in class 2-C. Due to his biological heritage, his sanpaku eyes make him appear as an unassuming criminal and can cause many misunderstandings. Ryuuji grew up in an unmarried family with no father, and has since mastered to be independent. Ryuuji is a master cook and keeps a tidy house to the point where he is almost obsessed. He also excels in sewing and assists Taiga Aisaka with household chores she'd otherwise not be able to. He is the only one who can stop Taiga Aisaka's palmtop tiger at school. He's misunderstood due to of his appearance and how he grew. But, he's kind and selfless to a fault. Ryuuji despite his challenges is calm and responsible in all situations. He is smart responsible, smart and responsible, even when compared with Yusaku Kitamura, Ryuuji's most trusted friend. In the anime, he's insecure about the girls' emotions, specifically about things between him, taiga, Minori Kushieda and Ami Kawashima.
