Kelsey Plum

 Kelsey Christine Plum, born August 24 1994 is an American professional basketball player who plays for the Las Vegas Aces (Women's National Basketball Association) in Las Vegas. She won a WNBA title in 2022, in which she was awarded her first All-WNBA First Team selection. She also won the WNBA All-Star Game Most Valuable Player (MVP) in her first WNBA All-Star Game. She also took home a gold in the Women's 3x3 basketball at the 2020 Summer Olympics She completed her high school education at La Jolla Country Day School in San Diego. Plum was a college student and played basketball for the University of Washington. On February 25, 2017, Plum scored a career-high 57 points on senior night - making 19 of the 27 shots she took in breaking the NCAA Division I women's basketball record for scoring the most points with 3,397 points. On March 20, 2017, Plum broke the NCAA record for most points in one season by scoring 1,080. [3] She was selected out of UW as the first overall selection in the 2017 WNBA Draft by the San Antonio Stars. She was named the WNBA Sixth Player of the Year. Plum is the daughter of Katie and Jim Plum.Her mother was an accomplished volleyball player at the University of California, Davis. Her father was an All-American football player in high school and earned him All-American distinctions. He was a baseball player and football at San Diego State. [5][6] Plum is the oldest of two sisters as well as an older brother. Her sisters both played volleyball and followed in the footsteps of their moms. Her oldest sister Kaitlyn played for UC Davis, while Lauren played for the University of Oregon and for USA Volleyball's Junior National Team. Her younger brother Daniel played football at UC Davis. Kelsey played volleyball for a time, excelling within the USA Volleyball junior system, however, when it was time to go to high school she chose La Jolla Country Day School over Poway High School, where her sisters had attended as well. Plum picked basketball over volleyball.La Jolla Country Day School is the school where Candice Wiggins played basketball during her high school years.During the course of her high school season, Plum scored a total of 2,247 total points, which was equivalent to 19.9 points per game. She scored 677 rebounds, assisted on 381 baskets and scored 370 steals. Her team's record was 103-22 during her four seasons. The result was four section titles, and the CIF Division IV state title. Plum also played AAU basketball for San Diego Sol. Plum was named to the 2013 WBCA High school All American Coaches' Team. She played in the 2013 WBCA High School All-America Game, hitting six of her eight field goal attempts, scoring 14 points.When it came time for college choices, Plum considered Maryland and Virginia on the east coast, and Cal, Gonzaga, Oregon and Washington on the west coast, then chose to accept the offer from Washington.Plum was selected as an McDonald's All-American. It allowed her to participate in the 2013 McDonald's All-American Girls Game. She was also named Ms. Basketball by CalHiSports. This honor is given to the most outstanding female basketball players in high school in California. Previous winners include Kaleena Moqueda-Lewis and Courtney Paris. Candice Wiggins was also a winner.
