Cynthia Rhodes

Rhodes was born in Nashville, Tennessee. She began her career in showbiz in the prestigious Opryland USA in 1970 as a singer/dancer while she attended Glencliff High School [citation required]. Rhodes also refused to take part in pictorials for Playboy magazine and resisted scripts that demanded nudity. Sylvester Stallone was the Staying Alive director. He claimed that Rhodes would rather quit the business than embarrass her parents. "Rhodes was a minor character in the fantasy musical Xanadu (1980). In 1982, she appeared in a video production called "The Tubes Video" directed by Russell Mulcahy and choreographed by Kenny Ortega. This 52-minute long-form music video included Rhodes as one of three dancers who were backup for the San Francisco-based rock band The Tubes and includes hits such as "Talk to You Later", "Sushi Girl", "Sports Fans" and "Mondo Bondage".Her next role was as Tina Tech in the musical film Flashdance. Following Flashdance Rhodes was cast as John Travolta's backup dancer Sylvester Stallone's 1983 film Staying Alive. This sequel to Saturday Night Fever, which was released in 1977, was also with John Rhodes. Jackie Rhodes was an bar band singer, who was often Travolta's romantic interest. The film, despite being badly received however, was a commercial success.
