Brown's first season as Steeler saw the Steelers advance to the Super Bowl XLV but were defeated by the Green Bay Packers. In his first season, Brown had 16 receptions as well as 167 yards over ten games. Brown was the first NFL player to accumulate more than 1,000 yards of receiving and returning in the second NFL season. Brown was rewarded for his work by being chosen to be punt returner for the 2012 Pro Bowl. In 2013, his breakout year was when he became the first player in NFL history to have five receptions and more than 50 yards in every single game of an NFL season. Brown's performance on the field didn't decrease over the following seasons. He was the league's top player in receptions and receiving yards in 2014, 2015 , and 2017. He also led the league in receiving yards and touchdowns in 2018. However, his relationship with the Steelers was not a good one, especially in relation to Ben Roethlisberger. In 2019, Brown was traded the Oakland Raiders who made him the highest-paid receiver in the league. However, his time in Oakland was short-lived, and following a number of off-field incidents, including a confrontation with general manager Mike Mayock, the team removed Brown and he was never allowed to play a regular-season game with the team. Brown signed shortly after with the New England Patriots, but was dismissed after appearing in one game. In the meantime Brown was signed, the NFL was looking into sexual assault allegations made against him. He was a free agent for the remainder of 2019 and into 2020, however, the team he joined was Tampa Bay Buccaneers. With the Buccaneers, he was crowned Super Bowl LIV over the Kansas City Chiefs. After removing his jersey, he ran off the field against the New York Jets and was later released.
