 Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. was born on October 20, 1971. He is also known as Snoop Dogg, [note 1Note 1. Snoop Dogg is an American rapper. His fame dates back to 1992, when he was included on Dr. Dre's debut solo track, "Deep Cover", and later on his debut album as a solo artist, The Chronic. Broadus has sold over 23 million albums across the United States and more than 35 million globally. [2][33 Broadus has been awarded numerous awards such as the American Music Award, Primetime Emmy Award and 17 nominations for Grammy Awards. His debut solo album, Doggystyle was released by Death Row Records on November 1993. It was ranked at number one on the Billboard 200 and Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Doggystyle was sold out to 800,000 people in the first week of release. It reached four times platinum in 1994. Singles like "What's My Name?" were also included. "Gin and Juice" and "What's My Name?" Broadus composed the music for Death Row Records' 1994 short film Murder Was the Case. Snoop was the main character. The album he followed Tha doggfather was released at the top of the charts for both in 1996, with "Snoop’s Upside Ya Head" as the title track. The next year, the album was certified double-platinum.After leaving Death Row Records in January 1998, Broadus signed with No Limit Records, releasing three Snoop albums: Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told (1998), No Limit Top Dogg (1999), and Tha Last Meal (2000). Broadus signed with Priority/Capitol/EMI Records in 2002, and then released Paid tha cost of being da Boss. He signed with Geffen Records in 2004 and released the next three albums, R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta: The Masterpiece ), The Blue Carpet Treatment, & Ego Trippin'. Priority Records released Malice 'n Wunderland in 2009, and Doggumentary in 2011. Snoop Dogg has been featured in a variety of motion films and has hosted numerous television shows, including Doggy Fizzle Televizzle as well as Snoop Dogg's Father Hood. He also coaches for a high school and youth football league. He was recruited by EMI in September 2009 to become the chairperson of Priority Records, a reactivated label.
