Sarah Rafferty

 Rafferty was the youngest of four children from Greenwich's Riverside neighborhood. Rafferty was raised in the Riverside neighborhood in Greenwich in Connecticut. She was one of the four youngest daughters. She credits her mother Mary Lee Rafferty (chairwoman of the English Department at Convent of the Sacred Heart school) as well as her father Michael Griffin Rafferty Jr. to instilling a love of the arts. Rafferty graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover in 1989. After majoring in English and the theatre at Hamilton College she pursued theatre studies abroad at the University of Oxford and the United Kingdom during her junior year. Then she went to Yale School of Drama where she earned a master's degree in Fine Arts.
