Henry Winkler

 Henry Franklin Winkler OBE, was born October 30 1945. He is an American comedian actor, writer and producer. He also directs, produces and executive producer. After gaining fame for his role as Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli on the American television show Happy Days, Winkler has earned himself a reputation as a character actor for roles such as Arthur Himbry in Scream, Coach Klein in The Waterboy, Barry Zuckerkorn in Arrested Development, Eddie R. Lawson in Royal Pains, Fritz in Monsters at Work, Stanley Yelnats III in Holes, Uncle Joe in The French Dispatch, Judge Newman in Merry Christmas, Drake & Josh, Al Pratt in Black Adam, and Gene Cousineau in Barry. Winkler was a struggling child at P.S. 87 located on West 78th Street, Manhattan and at the McBurney School, where he was ridiculed for his lack of academic achievement. After graduation from Emerson College, he studied theater at the Yale School of Drama. He also stayed for a year working for the Yale Repertory Theater, where he did commercial theater, as well as appearing in two independent films. He was able to save enough money to travel to California in September 1973 and was then selected for a small role in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. He was also a part of the audition for Happy Days and won the role of Arthur "Fonzie" Fonzarelli, which he portrayed for the next ten years. In the course of his work on Happy Days, Winkler was diagnosed as dyslexic.After the conclusion of Happy Days, Winkler found himself typecast, and subsequently moved into creating and directing. He was part of the original MacGyver television series as well as worked on other shows such as Sightings or The Hollywood Squares. He also served as director for Memories of Me, a theatrical film that was released with Billy Crystal and Cop and a Half (with Burt Reynolds). He used his experiences with dyslexia as a child to co-write the Hank Zipzer series for children's books in 2003 alongside Lin Oliver, a children's literature writer. Winkler also appeared as Mr. Rock in the BBC adaptation of the show. Oliver and Winkler designed the prequel series Here's Hank and the Ghost Buddy series. They also co-created the Alien Superstar series. In 2016, he became the first reality TV star in the NBC series Better Later Than Never.Winkler has been honored for his performance as "The Fonz", and for his work with dyslexia through the Hank Zipzer series. He gave one of the Fonzie's leather jackets to the National Museum of American History in the year 1980. He was awarded a star on Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1981.
